Mat Work (mandatory)
Heel Work (recommended)

Join one of our virtual classrooms, with Alyssa Rose, to learn about how Mat Work, Heel Work and/or Recall can be used in real world training to calm nervous, hyper-excited or reactive dogs.

This module teaches you how to train your dog to come when called. It shows you how to break the training down into building blocks in order to achieve real world, lasting results. Implementation of the training exercises found in this module will result in a dog that will gleefully and enthusiastically come when you call them. Your dog will also gain the ability to think through excitement. These exercises will be introduced in your front or back yard or in a quiet space near your home. Ultimately they can be practiced in and generalized to any environment. For example, this can be used to call your dog away from barking at a window or the backyard fence but it can also be used to move your dog out of harm’s way on a hike. For best results do all 3 weeks in a quiet park, with minimal distractions, and then repeat the training and generalize to new environments and new distractions.

  • Recall training can be used to calm nervous, hyper-excited or reactive dogs; at the park, when hiking off leash, in your yard. They can also be practiced in your home to call your dog away from barking at the window.
  • Your dog will learn an enthusiastic response to the word “come” (or cue of your choosing).
  • We will discuss how to turn distractions into a form of reinforcement that will generate a rock solid recall.
  • Learn how to read and respond to your dog’s behavior and body language to identify over-arousal or other factors that might inhibit your dog’s ability to learn or engage in the presence of triggers.
  • You will learn proper mechanics of using a long line, and why its such a valuable tool in the early learning stages.
  • Learn how to have a rock solid recall while respecting your dog’s need to explore and interact with the world around them.
  • This training promotes your dog’s emotional and behavioral well-being.
