Alyssa Rose, CPDT-KA
Certified by the Council for Professional Dog Trainers
Alyssa took the first step in creating Legends Dog Training when she began studying behavior, learning and motivation in college in 2000. Four years later she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Psychology. She built upon this foundation as a counselor and case manager for children and adults diagnosed with psychiatric disorders.
In 2008 she decided to take a summer hiatus to Alaska where she spent six months working in an animal sanctuary. She gave tours through the sanctuary and discussed behavioral tendencies of black bears, sitka deer, pacific salmon and bald eagles; all the while living on a small boat with her 90 lb Malamute mix, Kodi. It was towards the end of this summer that she first considered veering away from human mental health, and pursuing a career in animal behavior.
She enrolled in Triple Crown's program for professional dog trainers, and headed to Texas to study under two internationally renowned trainers. At Triple Crown Dog Training Academy Alyssa learned about beginner and advanced obedience training, behavior modification, and canine sport work. The sport work included agility, search and rescue, scent detection, tracking and protection training.
After graduating from Triple Crown she began her dog training career at a prominent dog care facility in New York City. Her certification awarded her a job as Head Dog Trainer and Behavior Consultant in the upper west side of Manhattan. She conducted behavior assessments, private lessons and group classes. It was in 2010 that she established her own private business, Legends Dog Training.
Alyssa moved Legends to San Diego, California in 2011. Legends has allowed her to focus on her greatest passion: behavioral training. Alyssa creates programs for dogs that exhibit fearful, anxious, hyper-active and aggressive behavior. Alyssa utilizes a specialized approach to behavior modification that focuses on establishing a base which can be systematically built upon. The goal in this training is to minimize stress, improve communication and build a stronger relationship between people and their dogs.
